Kyuka: A Name Rooted in Cherokee Heritage


Long before settlers arrived, this land was home to the Cherokee Nation and was known as Big Wills Valley.

The name Kyuka comes from Chief Cuyuga, a respected Cherokee leader and the father of Chief Duck, whose name lives on through nearby Duck Springs.

Chief Cuyuga is said to have lived near the very spring that now provides the water for Kyuka Waters.
